MY "CHILDREN'S DAY" COLLECTOR'S COLLECTIONS

Usually, Mondays are not meant to be celebrated.

because most times, school is not fun!

So, let's give the children every reason to celebrate this Monday

until their batteries run out!

And let's try not to scare them with too much love,

while we also give them a chance to play "adult"

And hope they can get it right before they become one.

For children are the future,

Whether they like it or not!

NGF CRISIS: WHEN POWER-DRUNKS GATHER

There are usually two ways to draw attention.  One is by doing something positive that would require commendation and the other way is just the opposite.  So, why does a group like the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) comprising of state governors of the 36 states of Nigeria, not know this?

Truth be said, in the past, I have never paid any meaningful attention to the NGF.  Only for them to coerce my attention in a ridiculous manner as the manipulation of election results of who is to be the next chairman of the forum!  A CHAIRMAN OF 36 PERSONS!  36 LEADERS! JUST 36!

This is a pointer to the fact that in the absence of meaningful positive attention, power-drunks would employ desperate measures to get just about any other kind of attention.  If a forum of such magnitude cannot honorably hold elections to a successful conclusion without the drama of election fraud, why must it be the headache of the Nigerian masses?  As if Nigeria is not faced with enough crises to last a life time, a group of power-drunks decide to stage a show of shame so that we should do what?  Applaud them? Or shift our attention from our battle against terrorists called Boko Haram?

Just when you think that there is no more reason to amuse one’s self over the issue, the PDP National Working Committee releases a statement to say that one of their governors, precisely the one embroiled in the NGF crisis has been suspended.  So I ask, suspended from what, from running his state or from remaining a governor under the auspices of the party?

This is the scariest aspect of this show of shame.  A drunk will always command attention and very likely amuse his/her audience. But when that drunk is someone with immense power to influence society, will this drunk not muster others of like mind within the society and deprive that society of its sanity?

I just asked a question!

YESTERDAY, THERE WAS A PRESIDENT! Terrorists Beware!

The fact was and still is that I DID NOT VOTE FOR PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN.  And another fact is that yesterday, was the first time I felt proud to have heard "MY PRESIDENT" address his fellow citizens.  All it took was for him to be bold enough to say it like it should be said.  Mind you, it is not about what should have been written in the script nor how soon the script should have been read.  But, and most importantly, it is about how the script was read.  The punch line for me was: "...WHEREVER THEY MAY GO, WE WILL HUNT THEM DOWN, WE WILL FISH THEM OUT AND WE WILL BRING THEM TO JUSTICE.  NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES, WE WILL WIN THIS WAR AGAINST TERROR!"  To me, all the other paragraphs were just "grammar."

He said it like he meant it and I felt it like I heard it.

Those are the kind of words that would spur troops of volunteers to the defense of their father’s land in the face of the worst kind of enemies imaginable.  Long before yesterday, I had joined in the fight against these violators of the integrity of my mother’s land.  And yesterday, after the presidential address, I have volunteered to write a memo to those that have given my president an excuse to flex his presidential muscle.  And it reads thus:

NATIONAL INTERNAL MEMO

FROM: THE PRESIDENT,
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA

TO: THOSE WHO THREATEN THE SOVEREIGN INTEGRITY OF THE NIGERIAN STATE

TOPIC: STATE OF EMERGENCY
those insurgents and terrorists who take delight in killing our security operatives, whoever they may be, wherever they may go, we will hunt them down, we will fish them out, and we will bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror.those insurgents and terrorists who take delight in killing our security operatives, whoever they may be, wherever they may go, we will hunt them down, we will fish them out, and we will bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror.

those insurgents and terrorists who take delight in killing our security operatives, whoever they may be, wherever they may go, we will hunt them down, we will fish them out, and we will bring them to justice. No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror…Those of you insurgents and terrorists who take delight in killing our security agents and harmless citizens, wherever you may go, we will hunt you down, we will fish you out and we will bring you to justice.  No matter what it takes, we will win this war against terror!
THE PRESIDENT HAS SPOKEN!

Signed
On behalf of the
President,
Federal Republic of Nigeria

To those that claim that the president’s declaration was an action left a little late,  I am sorry I have to go against every fiber of my bias to take the side of the president on this.  There is an African proverb that states that "A child is not punished on the day he spills palm oil but on the day he spills the water medium for making palm oil.”  It is unfortunate that so many lives have been lost.  It is regrettable that so much has been damaged.  But it is imperative to note that “you don’t unleash the use of an automatic rifle to kill a fly.”  He needed a grave excuse and the "foolish fly had to metamorphose into a dragon."

Caution was first required because there were too much political sentiments surrounding the insurgence which makes the saying a wise one that “the fly which perches on one’s scrotum is either killed or shooed off with caution.”  The insurgents and terrorists were playing on our delicate diversity up until yesterday!

I pray for the security agents that have been called upon to the defense of our national sovereignty.  And I pray for the President that the lord be his strength to remain Presidential and continue to show the wisdom and strength required to rule the most populous black nation in the world!

LONG LIVE MY BELOVED COUNTRY!

LONG LIVE MR. PRESIDENT OF YESTERDAY!

FIRST ANNIVERSARY: THOUGHTS OF A "NOBODY"

THIS IS MY STORY OF A NOBODY
THAT CHOSE TO BLAZE A TRAIL
FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.
EVERY TIME I LOOK BACK, I SEE INFINITE POWER.
IN FRONT, LAY ENDLESS POSSIBLITIES.
AND ALL ROUND,
BOUNDLESS OPPORTUNITIES.
A POINTER TO THE FACT THAT
THIS NOBODY IS ONE OF THE VERY REASONS THE UNIVERSE IS A WONDERFUL WORK OF ART

I HAVE CHOSEN TO SHAPE MY WORLD,

SO THAT NO ONE ELSE WILL DO IT FOR ME.
I HAVE VISITED CITIZENS OF THE WORLD,
TRAVELLING FAR AND WIDE WITHOUT A VISA.
I HAVE CHOSEN TO BE MYSELF,
FOR EVERYONE ELSE IS ALREADY TAKEN.
AND AS I TRAVEL,
I,THIS NOBODY,
THANK YOU FOR KEEPING ME COMPANY,
EVEN IN MY FIRST YEAR OF WANDERING.

BECAUSE OF EVERY ONE OF YOU FIRST 3000 PAGE VIEWERS,
I WILL LEAVE A MARK
AT THE DOOR STEP OF MINDS I HAVE
VISITED.
SO THE WORLD WOULD KNOW "I WAS HERE!"

WHEN I COME CALLING,
I SEEK NOT FAME AND RICHES.
THOUGH I EMBRACE THEM AS OFTEN AS WE MEET.
I DO NOT NEED THEM TO TURN THIS NOBODY TO SOMEBODY.
FOR THEY COULD BECOME TO MUCH LUGAGE FOR TRAVELLING LIKE I DO,
BLAZING A TRAIL LIKE I HAVE,
IN THE WAY THAT I KNOW HOW.

SO, LET IT BE KNOWN THAT WHILE I BLAZE MY TRAIL,
I MAY NOT COME CALLING THROUGH A PATH THAT WOULD PLEASE THE WORLD,
FOR I AM A NOBODY,
AND NOBODY IS PERFECT.
THEREFORE, I AM PERFECT!
