Hurricane Sandy in her fury

 

 

 

 

From far away I see her fury

Pictures of her beauty betray her truly

Poseidon’s errant traveler

Nature’s power drunk reveler

In her fit she spews her drink  

And cities flood beyond their brink

How shall we bridle her excess?

Who will make her see our distress?

Thor, light her path no more

Stop rumbling songs and stop her tour

For Halloween has lost her fun

Sandy, see what you have done!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She swam our beaches to a wreck

Uprooted her cousins with a jerk

Wailed more than those she bereaved

In her rage not to be relieved

A visitor has ravaged our homes

And left us to survive what looms

Andrew and Katrina was survived

Long before she arrived

And Like those before her and her game

We will welcome no more her name

Rage no more and be forever gone

DEATH AT A CITADEL

 

Death made a roll call

And we had over 40 fall

Merchants of death at our citadel

Leaving a nation quizzical  

Of a heinous merchandize, so principal

To the swelling of her mourning tide

In a month meant to celebrate her pride

 

 

 

 

 

Someone must be responsible to take the fall

But the usual suspect denies making the call

Fingers point at the politicking in the citadel

While the nation remains quizzical

Unable to answer questions so principal

About the why and who has derailed knowledge’s tide

And breached our citadel and its pride

 

 

 

 

 

Death has unlearned knowledge

And made grave our future’s courage

Murderers hold the nation hostage

As insecurity heralds death’s cartridge

Pray we honor the dead with the knowledge

That the future will not lose courage

To unshackle her nation and refuse to remain  hostage

 

 

 

This is in remembrance of the students killed on October 1, 2012 at The Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State, Nigeria. 

 

May their souls rest in peace!

It is without any form of regret that the

family of the people of the world announces

the timely death of one of its rejected

children

 

 

TALIBAN

(since whenever - October 2012)

REST IN PIECE

 

 

Who decided to commit suicide after a

 

protracted illness of

 terrorism against

defenseless people. 

 His  suicidal death

was orchestrated when

he  armed himself to

the teeth in the quest

 

to kill 14 year old Malala Yousafzia, a

Pakistani girl and Peace Prize winning

advocate for the girl child education.

 

 

 

There shall be no burial

rites for him

because the world is too

busy celebrating the

present day miracle,

Malala Yousafzia, who

history will never forget

as the girl that

showed the Taliban how to commit suicide with

one bullet. 

 

 

He is survived by other misguided cohorts who

will continue to know no peace as the family

of the people of the world eagerly

awaits their demise.

ALUU 4:
THERE SHALL BE MORE KILLINGS!

Every occurrence in life is meant to guide the future.  But where such beacon is ignored there’s the likelihood that such occurrence will reoccur. 

 

 

After 911, America did not just want to avenge the horror.  They upgraded their terror watch so that they would not be so easy a target for terrorists in the future. 

 

After Aluu 4, what has improved about the sacredness of the life of a Nigerian?  

 

There was a Presidential broadcast after the incident of the Aluu 4 and the President did not deem it important enough to put in even one sentence about the unfortunate four because there was the too important an issue of establishing a “COME-EAT” or is it committee that will oversee the money sharing formula surrounding flood ravished communities.  Or is it because it was usual to have alleged criminals burnt alive?

 

Is jungle justice not a recognized unspoken law in the nation?  If it is not, why would a police officer sanction the lynching of the Aluu 4?

 

 

 

Is our society not an embodiment of the cliché: “survival of the fittest? “

 

Is this not a country where an employer calls in the police to arrest an employee and such a person could be forgotten in the police cell without taken to court to prove his/her innocence over what he/she was arrested for?

 

Do the police not subject alleged criminals they arrest to similar torture given to the Aluu 4 in the name of investigation?

 

 

The incident about the Aluu 4 bears its origin from the negligence of our authorities to properly handle criminals and so when the innocent are accused to be criminals they too will be subjected to such horror.  

 

Ours is a nation where the police does not arrive the scene of criminal upheaval they have been contacted about until after the culprits have escaped and they then drive to the scene of the crime with so much noise and gun touting razzmatazz to harass innocent passers-by in the name of arresting suspects.

 

The nation has no trusted means of security for its people.  So the people will be animals and turn the society into a jungle.      

 

There’s fear in my heart, that whatever positive actions that may be coming from the authorities now may be as a result of public show of empathy that will last only for the moment.  As such, THERE WILL BE MORE KILLINGS in this jungle we call our society! 

 

My condolences to the families of the victims of the lawlessness of the Aluu 4 and future victims that will stem from our nation’s refusal to be guided by Aluu 4’s beacon.
