A NEIGHBOR IN THE HOOD
A TRUE STORY
...2013...
...booting in progress...
...BOOTING COMPLETE!
Welcome to this blog's first day of 2013. So it wouldn't be out of place to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The break was desperately needed.
opportunity to refresh this blog's makeup.
Seated in the popular
state organized BRT bus, waiting for all the seats to be occupied, the witness
watched as a passenger was dragged on to the bus like an unwanted burden.
Truth be said, who would want to bear a
burden in the shape of a grown man, advanced in age, half-paralyzed with the
intension to commute in a public bus in Lagos state of all places?
He that happened to have been “cursed”
with this burden could do no more than heap his burden on the steps of the bus
entrance.
Everyone in and around the entrance of
the bus stared as the burden-bearer struggled to go beyond the steps until
someone inside the bus did stand to aid the half-paralyzed passenger to a
seat.
At the instant his burden, drooling all
through the struggle, was relieved unto a seat, the burden-bearer disembarked,
abandoning the half-paralyzed man.
Funny enough, but definitely not
strange was that the only thing that worried the bus driver and his side-kick,
the conductor, was whether the man had bought a ticket, not that a man that
cannot walk because his left leg, hand and half his brain had become vegetable was
seated on their bus with everyone looking at him like a plague that must be
avoided.
Whether he safely got to his
destination or not is something I will be sharing with you all next time on
this blog.
