SEX STRIKE:
IN THEORY OR PRACTICAL?

Women in Togo have been urged to abstain from sex for a week.

The ban was called by opposition coalition
"Let's Save Togo," made up of nine civil society

groups and seven opposition parties and
movements.
Opposition leader Isabelle Ameganvi said that
sex could be a "weapon of the battle" to
achieve political change.
The coalition wants President Faure

Gnassingbe, whose family has held power for

decades, to stand down.

Hmmm...

I read about the above and I got dangerously
thinking...

Think about it like this, if the men still don't comply with the interest of the sex striking women, would the strike continue indefinitely?

How about the women that would want to oppose the interest of the women of the sex strike?  How does the strike deter them?

And I'm still thinking...

isn't this an apt example of the idiomatic drowning man (or should I say women), grabbing at straws...

Which is to say:

If a+b=c

Then:

A people not ready to fight for what is right, (plus) the same people using “the drowning man or women grabbing at straws” strategy, is equal to: THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF TOGO WILL VERY MUCH BE THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF TOGO!

SOMEONE PLEASE PROVE MY THEORY WRONG!

And while someone is trying to do that, can someone else please suggest where these sex striking women can go to and see clips of how women aided in the recent Arab revolutions?  I hate to see their strike called off with them having to go back to their men who might not be available because there were women who refused to join the strike.  Hmmm...

MICHAEL JACKSON: THE LEGEND CONTINUES

Tribute to a King

He was not made to make a good song
A king of hit songs that owned a list long
Every time he danced his heart away
You just had to sing along and sway
Because at such times
And so many were those times
You need not have a favorite song

He had the “Human Nature” to be “Dangerous”
So “Bad” you would “Remember The Time”
The “Smooth criminal” made an “Earth Song”
So he could “Heal The World”
Always “Wanna Be Starting Something”
Whether he was “Black or White”
All he had to do was “Beat It”

“Who Is It” that didn’t feel the “Thriller”
Even Library of Congress could not put it “Off The Wall”
He showed us the “Man In The Mirror”
To remind us that “You Are Not Alone”
Even when “They Don’t Care About Us”
He knew that “We Are The World”
Every one of us and the “Liberia Girl”

“This Is It” he proposed
Not bothering to ask “Will You Be There”
So he could “Rock with You”
And “Scream” to sing “You Rock My World”
“Dirty Diana” and “Billy Jean” might have been there
He would have given “Blood On The Dance Floor”
For on stage, he could do no wrong

“The way you make me feel”
Each time I see the “Moonwalk”
Makes you forever real
Like the diehard Mohawk
Once for 80 weeks on top 10 of Billboard 200 he never faded
“A songwriter who set(s) the beat for a decade”
As such, a must that “The Legend Continues”

MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON
29 August 1958 – 29 June 2009
Lived, died and forever
a LEGEND!

FARM OF SACRED COWS

With the least pleasure anyone can possess at times like this, I present to you my nation, home of sacred cows!

Abuja, my nation's capital city, just last week, survived the siege by petroleum product distributors who feel it is their right to hoodwink Nigeria to accept doing business on their terms.

And my government playing "hero to the rescue" of its poor citizens set a table for negotiation so that these economic terrorists with swag can sit their sagging exposed dirty linen down and talk their way out of the criminal economic mess surrounding fuel subsidy.

On account of how well my memory serves me, I do very much recall at a purported "national town hall meeting,” late last year,  where the minister of finance, our world bank expert, in the bid to preach the need for removal of fuel subsidy had the confidence of authority to tell agitated Nigerians that where names can be named to expose economic criminals responsible for the fraud in the oil industry that justice would take its due course.

Names were named from which the drama titled "I took money and not bribe," became a popular soap for Nigerians to watch and read about.  The intrigue surrounding this drama was played out by the experienced main cast of Honourable Farouk of the National House of Assembly, Mr. Otedola of Conoil and of course the National House of Assembly members who were self-appointed custodians of the money that is not a bribe.  Some sacred cows while assuming the role of the police to question both sides about the bribery scandal, felt affronted that Mr. Otedola could afford to laugh at them.  And I was tempted to ask, what is wrong with one sacred cow laughing at another cow?

With the drama was the evidence that these names that were named could hold the nation to ransom.  As such, we must now have animal farm replicated as negotiations can take the place of prosecution.  No more should all these fraudsters face the law, but they should be categorized as those with "minor and major infractions" where the sacred cows of minor infractions have the chance to negotiate so that they can go on with, I dare say, “BUSINESS AS USUAL.”  And for the sacred cows of major infractions, do you think it is wise to wait for the mirage of a prosecution when that of the Halliburton scandal has not materialized!

I write to be proven wrong that these names of minor infractions would have a fraud sheet of nothing less than hundreds of millions of naira to their names.  But of course, it can be negotiated!

So, while these sacred cows that ought to be graded as terrorist would enjoy “unlawful immunity," the office of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) would be barricaded by the military with authorization from the office of the minister for power under the guise that the staff of PHCN demanding for their rights should be seen as terrorists.

My nation is nurturing a breed of cows that will do its farm no good.  Where hard working citizens can be denied justice because the culprits are society’s elite or because they package themselves as armed and dangerous, what stops the nation’s future to bear tidings of the increase of disgruntled society’s elite arming dangerously aggrieved citizens so that they too can be opportune to sit with Mr. President, sipping tea with cassava bread as they negotiate?

Also among news gathered in the recent weeks is that certain containers loaded with arms were discovered at our ports.  Maybe as a result that someone did not settle well enough?  Can anyone vouch that some of these containers have not already discharged unto the streets?

The rich are getting greedier, the poor are getting more aggrieved and unauthorized arms are been shipped into my country.  Do I need to be a chemist to understand that these compounds are dangerous to mix?

NIGERIAN’S GOVERNMENT IS SHORT-CHANGING THE FUTURE FOR A FARM FULL OF SACRED COWS and they expect Nigerians not to have any “beef” about it!  PUN NOT INTENDED!

"RAMADAN KAREEM"  IS NOT FOR ALL MUSLIMS

In this month of Ramadan, I have lost count of how many lives my country has lost because there are those who have chosen to play God rather than be true believers of the religion they practice.

They have chosen not to forgive or abstain from that which does not promote holiness, choosing to name the name of God when they ought not to.

To them, Ramadan Kareem shall be denied!

And to my true Muslim brothers and sisters world wide, may the blessings and reward of faithfulness towards the tenents of your religion as enshrined in the Quran always be your portion.

RAMADAN KAREEM!

 Chapter 2, Revelation 185 of the Qur'an:
The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran; a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; He desires not hardship for you; and that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that perhaps you may be thankful.

MY FACEBOOK COLLECTION 1

Everyone agrees that the reign of applications like facebook do come with its dislikes.

And I do very much know that no one would argue that it does not bear its own blessings.

To me, one of such blessings is my "for the fun of it" collection.  I once looked at the postings on my facebook wall and laughed myself to bouts of coughing.  Sometimes the postings are so thought inspiring, I just felt I have to share.

So, here I am to share.

This compilation is from someone truly gifted with thought.  Whether or not they are his words, I can't say.  But what I do know is that he is good at knowing how to use them.

People, I present to you postings from, remember the name: EASYJIMMY

LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC:
MORE GOLD MEDALS PLEASE!

A humble begining of 14 nations and 241 athletes in 1896 is what has transformed to London 2012 of over 10,000 athletes and over 200 Olympic recognized nations.

And where Venezuela will ever be in jubilation over their first gold medal in 44years, Michael phelps just couldn’t help but amass 22 medals in 3 Olympics to be acknowledged the “greatest Olympic athlete of all time”.

So Nigerians, fret not about witches and wizards depriving your athletes medals in this Olympic but pray that our athletes be able to attend future Olympics with honour, proper preparation and less boasting from our government officials.  For the Olympic Creed reads thus: “The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

Athletes have had to finish their events in pain and with no position on the result table but they left the stadium with ovations worthy of champions.

The double amputee from South Africa did not need a medal to feel like a champion that had influenced his generation and the next.

You think a medal could replace what was felt by the female athletes from Saudi Arabia who the stadium honoured with ovation for their participation in the games?

Even false starters couldn’t afford to be ashamed because the beautiful audience of the Olympic stadium were eager to show that all you had to do was show up for your event to be given a champion’s ovation.

It can’t be true that it is because of the value of the stones that the medal winners cry, dance, shout or become a hulk.

There is the listening to your nation’s anthem aired in the midst of the gathered nations of the world as they all pay respect to a champion amongst champions; among other reasons like knowing that it pays to work hard with the world speaking through their applause that you deserve to be there!

The British have taught us that hosting an Olympic comes with human errors but most importantly is the fact that a nation is made up of children, physically challenged or not, history, partying teens, construction workers, brand names like James Bond and David Beckham, a Queen willing to make the world believe that she would jump from a helicopter to attend the games and of course an orchestra that must have Mr. Bean play an instrument or was it a note?

I watched with happiness the opening ceremony and the parade of nations.  I saw, by my estimation, the most beautifully dressed athletes  (from Cameroun) and I will not forget my wish to have seen the flag of Syria hoisted among the nations of the world.

For Syria, I would dare to have another wish of having the Olympic flame set afloat to the sky with a prayer for peace upon that nation and other nations that could not be represented at the games.

And if the winds of Britain would not carry the Olympic flame fast enough across the sky to its destination, then please let Usain Bolt do us the honour! I meant USAIN BOLT,

not Carl Lewis!

And if Bolt chooses to go to Jamaica first before going to Syria, not to worry, "our champion" is fast enough to handle it in good time!

This is a tribute to the host and athletes of

YOU ALL DESERVE GOLD!
